Situated in the province of Cosenza, in the wide valley of the River Bagni near Acquppesa, the Luigiane Thermal Baths are the oldest and best known in Calabria. The wondrous healing powers of the sulphureous waters of Acqappesa have been known for centuries: Pliny the Elder mentioned them and they were renowned up until the Middle Ages as “Acquae Calidae Tempsae”. Although very near the sea, the baths are surrounded by a crown of wooded hills with such picturesque names as the “Devil’s Finger”, the dolomitic rock along whose slopes the thermal springs gush forth and which is the symbol of the baths. The Luigiane Baths, classified as quality level 1^st Super, use mineral water scientifically classified as “ hyper-thermal sulphureous, containing sodium chloride, bromine and iodide”, due to the abundance of sulphur it contains with respect to its other, no less precious, elements. In fact the waters are characterised by a high level of hydrogen sulphide, the highest in Italy (173mg/l) and by a natural temperature of 47°, offering a complete treatment, suitable for a wide range of therapeutic indications.

By car: A3 motorway, from North: take Lagonegro north exit and follow SS 585 – Valle del Noce road, then SS 18 Tirrenia Inferiore road. From South: Falerna exit and follow directions for Paola-Terme Luigiane.
